Preseason 2025 Player ratings: Oregon Ducks

Ratings Explained:

10-Star player for national title contender

9- Likely high draft pick, standout player

8- Above average player for a national title contender

7- Average player for title contender

6- Below average for title contender, you can win an NC with these guys(see Denzel Burke) but have to cover in other areas

5- average CFB player/JAG

4- below average starter for power 4, average for g5

3 and below- cannot win an NC(generally), weak player for power 4/below average for g5.

Offense

QB- Dante Moore 8

It's unreasonable to expect Dante to be as good as Bo or Dillon right away, but his ceiling is high and he will only get better. Key will be processing quickly.

RB - Makhai Hughes 8

A little shiftier than you'd expect for a power back. Good acceleration but lacks breakaway speed.

RB2 - Noah Whittington -7

Solid, reliable back. Balance issues at times. Bonus on kick returns.

WR 1 -  Dakorien Moore 7

This is representative that the ranking is for this year, fully expect this to be a 9-10 during his Oregon career. Think he will struggle against top tier physical corners in year 1.

WR 2/3- Benson/Kasper/Lowe/Dickey 7

Could be others here, but we have enough talent to be solid.

Slot: Gary Bryant Jr 7

Solid veteran, his natural position.

TE1 - Kenyon Sadiq 10

Stud. Possibly the best TE in Oregon history when it's said and done.

TE2 - Jamari Johnson 8

Physical blocker, capable pass catcher

LT - Isaiah World 4

Since I heard so many varying POV on this kid, I looked into his full film. There's some great sets, but there's also WAY too much of him getting knocked on his ass by some 250 lb kid from SDSU. Weak spot of the offense.

LG - Emmanuel Pregnon 8

Solid run blocker , underrated in pass pro.

C - Poncho 8

Solidified our OL last year. Still needs to show he can improve in space.

RG - Michael Bedford 7

Really impressed me in the spring game, think he's the guy that wins this job.

RT - Harkey/Wilson 6

Harkey is a good run blocker, but a little slow at tackle. Wilson has better feet, but not as powerful. Together, they'll be decent.

Defense

DE/Edge: Matayo Uiagalelei 10

Will go down as the best all around Edge to play at Oregon.

Teitum Tuioti 6

Solid and reliable but nothing exceptional

Blake Purchase 8

Breakout coming. 5+ sacks.

DT:

Amauri Washington 8-9

Amauri is SO disruptive, but he still has had trouble finishing plays. This is a projection that he will do a lot more finishing this year.

Bear Alexander 6

Talented, but too much film of him getting his poop pushed back 3-5 yards on runs and giving up on plays.

Green/ Gray 7

Two really talented kids, strong as rotational guys

LB:

Bryce Boettcher 6-7

Great against the Beavs and UW, but was a weak spot against Penn State and Ohio State. Hoping a full off season of football bumps him up to a 7

Jackson/Mixon/Platt 6

Jackson is hurt or I might have this a 7

S:

Dillon Thieneman 7

Poor against running backs in space( the Notre Dame film is atrocious )

Big upgrade in pass defense

Kingston Lopa 8

Projecting him to win this job against good competition. Thought he was really underrated out of high school. Tough kid.

CB:

Ify 9

Big number for a first year starter, but I've seen/heard nothing to think he won't be an absolute stud.

Florence/Johnson/Offord 7

Lots of competition here, should be a solid rotation.

Nickel:

D Austin 6-7

Hasn't been a standout in limited but know the coaches like him.  Legal issues still pending.

Go Ducks.

Comments

  1. Basically, I see this as a national championship level team outside of Left Tackle and Linebacker. Probably should have put 8 rating for DK Moore.

  2. Also, Matthew Bedford, not Michael, apologies.
